The passion for animals began with the love for a Boxer. For Reinhard and Marlies Schulze, this was the cornerstone of their Boxer breeding and the beginning of a successful story. They would never have dreamed that a sailing trip would be the decisive impulse.
Our company site Porta Westfalica – the “Gate to Westphalia” – is our “gate to the world”. From here, we support customers and animal friends all over the world. As an internationally operating business, we are present at all relevant trade shows and assist our retail partners and our numerous breeders.
Our Philosophy
Our motto is “Feed healthily, instead of feeding until full”. Following this principle we had developed our own product line for cat and dog food, which we distribute under the umbrella brand “PORTA21”. That label guarantees high-quality products in the super-premium segment. For a steady improvement of our products, we closely work together with numerous experienced pet owners. Their continuous feedback and the reviews of our bloggers are a crucial aspect for the further development of our products.
We deeply care for the environment, which is why we use solar energy for our company buildings and focus on a responsible and sustainable handling of our natural resources.
In order to be able to offer our beloved animals the qualitative standards that we would wish for ourselves, we only use selected and high-quality ingredients in our range of cat and dog food and completely avoid artificial flavours, colours and preservatives.
Openness in our declarations, work processes and manufacturing methods is important to us in order to create a trusting relationship with our two- and four-legged customers.
Closeness to and communication with our customers and their four-legged friends is crucial for the successful and innovative development of our ideas and products. Therefore, we work closely with breeders and animal owners, whose feedback is directly incorporated into the processes of the continuous optimization of our products.
Out of love and sense of responsibility towards our four-legged friends, we do NOT support any kind of animal testing. We regularly sponsor associations and organisations that are committed to animal welfare and animal health.
A responsible, sustainable use of our natural resources and (packaging) materials is a major concern for us. This includes the use of solar energy for our company buildings, reuse and recycling of already used raw materials as well as the reduction or efficient use of our packaging materials.
Dirk Schulze has been the managing director of the family business Schulze Heimtierbedarf with heart and soul for over 25 years. With his many years of experience and extensive knowledge of the industry, he steers the company and continues to set new quality standards for pet products.
At his side, Jesper Bach Sörensen has strengthened the management of Schulze Heimtierbedarf since 2021. With a lot of experience in change management and as CEO, Jesper's focus at Schulze Heimtierbedarf lies in the areas of sales, marketing and human resources, among others.
